What is a strawbale house?

The house is built on the wooden framework can be as high as the architect draws. Mostly they are one- or two-storied. The strawbales give the you the good natural insulation, healty interior and good feeling of minimising the environmenal impact of your building. The houses are usually plastered with lime plaster outside and clay plaster inside. Natural stuccos give the possibility to make roundy corner and create shapes that are hard to acheive with gypsum boards of wood.

The strawbale house is build on conventional foundation. The type of foundation can be the posts, belt or plate. The specialty of building starts from the walls. The walls are made of bales(cubicles 35x40x70 cm) and bales consist of straws that are without seeds. The bales in wall are between the framework and are compressed to give the structure more stiffness.

The house can be constructed in a way thet there is no wooden framework and the roof load is bared by bales. In that case the walls are compressed with more force to prepare for roof construction.

The person id free to choose whatever roof covering one desires. Many of the houses have been covered with wooden roofs- shigles, bilges. Electricity cables and piping is done similar to all modern houses.
