There are certain classes that descibe the
materials in fire situation. Non-burning
materials belong to classes A1 an A2,
semi-burning to B, C, D, E. The materials that
are not put into the previous classes are put
into class F. The strawbale houses are
considered to be relatively fire resistant
because of the plasters at both sides of the
walls. The University of Vienna made a test where
the bale wall with 5 cm of paster at both sides
was putin test. It achieved the sensitvity class
B2, which means that it takes fire badly. It also
received a stabilty class F90, which means that
it stayed in good condition for 90 minutes.
Stawbale house as a whole belongs to the TP3
class as is usual for most of the one-family
houses.
There is a video made of a test in USA: http://www.ecobuildnetwork.org/firemovie.htm
And at the end
of the page some copie of the certificates given
to balestructures.
